The peninsula with its ideal strategic location and its capital Kuala Lumpur has always been coveted by the great powers. Having been ruled by Indonesians, Dutch, British, and Japanese, a whole variety of customs and habits have developed. Following the Japanese occupation (1941 1945) the “Malayan Union” was created in 1946.
Malaysia consists of the peninsula south of Thailand, along with the northern third of the island of Borneo, and is inhabited by 22.2 million people of different faiths.
The country is a popular destination for tourists, not least due to its incredible beauty.
The Taiwanese have discovered Malaysia as the ideal source of high quality teas. Its unique terrain, typically mangroves and rainforest on the fringes of mighty mountain ranges, gives the tea an unmistakable aroma. The oolong teas of Malaya are famous and distinguished by their very complex and long lasting aroma.
